Time was running out for Andreas and Darius. Lord Kozani's plans were clear. He meant to destroy Darius and Mykos, and he meant to have Andreas or something that could closely replicate in his image. He also meant to break Andreas by destroying all of those he held close to his heart. Meanwhile, the message from the Watcher was clear – 'Time grows short.' Thus, Andreas and Darius planned with Mykos and those who protect them to thwart and frustrate Lord Kozani at every turn. As that dangerous game played out, Doctor Jergen, Hector, Zed Crew, and some surprise guests worked in the desert to solve the final puzzles that would lead to the Watchers and either redemption or damnation. Andreas wasn't certain if they would succeed at any of it. All he knew was that he was determined to live or die beside Darius.

Andreas, Darius, Mykos and the Zed Crew are back and things are hotting up. I was expecting tension to gradually build in this volume since we know that the Watchers have contacted Darius but what I didn’t expect to jump in feet first. Darius is warned that time is short but he doesn’t realize just how short. The actions of others, namely Lord Kozani, are causing events to escalate almost beyond control. While Darius and Mykos are trying to convince the Brothers and the Compound that a major catastrophe could be in the near future if they don’t make serious changes, Andreas is trying to bring Eris out of poverty.Between a certain Cosi pushing the limits of the new laws pertaining to Dami, rescuing Dami, conducting sit downs, finding more culprits involved in the Dami black market, preparing for the dig and giving dinner parties, life is never dull around the Masionette. Oh, did I forget to mention that the Ladies are proving that age is NOT an issue!
The plus to all of this chaos it that we get a glimpse at the making of a family that can take on anything with honor, dignity and love. With all of that going for them, can they still manage to survive.
